LOCATION Birla Vidyamandir is situated in the town of Nainital, 330 km to the north east of Delhi in the famous Central Himalayan township of Nainital. Its sprawling campus is exquisitely set at the top of a ridge, called "Sher-Ka-Danda" overlooking the lake, 1500 feet above the town and 7800 feet above sea level. To the north it commands a magnificent view of central Himalayan ranges stretched up to the snow bound peaks of Greater Himalayas, and to its south, past the town of Nainital, are the sprawling foothills. Guarded by the age old Deodars, it indeed is an idyllic site exuding the promise that the joys of learning can best be savoured here. It is well connected by a motorable road. CAMPUS The campus, sprawled over an undulating expanse of about 44.33 acres, is dotted with academic blocks, laboratories, auditorium, hostels, dinning hall, work-shops, play-fields, gymnasium, skating rink, swimming pool, dispensary and staff residences. CLASSES AND BOARDING HOUSES Classes IV to VIII are in Junior School and onwards up to XII are in Senior School. Though under the common administration their identities are well defined. The present number of boys is around 800 spread over in 10 boarding houses under the charge of experienced House Masters. FOOD AND MESSING There is a common dining hall where vegetarian, well balanced food is provided. However, eggs are there in the breakfast. The food is wholesome and nutritious. At an additional cost, milk is also supplied after dinner. The mess menu is revised as per the expert opinion. MEDICAL FACILITIES The institution has a small infirmary with 10 beds. A Medical Officer (MBBS) with paramedical crew is there to attend the routine cases. Serious cases, if any, are sent to the local government hospital. The school does its best to provide the required medical aid but does not owe any responsibility for accidents or mishaps beyond control. | |
