LOCATION
Birla
Vidyamandir is situated in the town of Nainital, 330 km to the north east
of Delhi in the famous Central Himalayan township of Nainital. Its
sprawling campus is exquisitely set at the top of a ridge, called "Sher-Ka-Danda"
overlooking the lake, 1500 feet above the town and 7800 feet above sea
level.
To the north it
commands a magnificent view of central Himalayan ranges stretched up to
the snow bound peaks of Greater Himalayas, and to its south, past the town
of Nainital, are the sprawling foothills. Guarded by the age old Deodars,
it indeed is an idyllic site exuding the promise that the joys of learning
can best be savoured here.
It is well connected by a motorable road.
CAMPUS
The campus,
sprawled over an undulating expanse of about 70 acres, is dotted with
academic blocks, laboratories, auditorium, hostels, dinning hall,
work-shops, play-fields, gymnasium, skating rink, swimming pool,
dispensary and staff residences.
CLASSES &
BOARDING HOUSES
Classes IV to VIII
are in Junior School and onwards up to XII are in Senior School. Though
under the common administration their identities are well defined. The
present number of boys is around 800 spread over in 10 boarding houses
under the charge of experienced House Masters.
FOOD & MESSING
There is common
dining hall where vegetarian, well balanced food is provided. However,
eggs are there in the breakfast. The food is wholesome and nutritious. At
an additional cost milk is also supplied after dinner. The mess menu is
revised as per the expert opinion of a dietician
MEDICAL
FACILITIES
The
institution has a small infirmary with 10 beds. A Medical Officer (MBBS)
with required number of a paramedical crew is there to attend the routine
cases. Serious cases, if any, are sent to the local government hospital.
The school does its best to provide the required medical aid but does not
owe any responsibility for accidents or mishaps beyond control.
